4 Creative Ways to Spruce Up Your Home

by Aug 24, 2018

Settling in to a new home takes a while. You need time to adjust to the locale, schedules, and general environment. But while you wait, you have a unique opportunity: you can give the place a brand-new look that’s “you.”

Everyone dreams about setting up their place in just the right way. But, sometimes it’s not always obvious about what you can do. So to help, here’s a few creative ways you can liven up your move after a big move!

Crazy Colors

If you can get away with it, consider moving away from the standard egg white color scheme most walls have. While you don’t have to go Picasso on the internals, think outside the box. Maybe your office room is a creative blue, or green for the bathroom. Accent it with furniture and custom tiles to really bring new life into your home. There’s no rule that says it all has to look the same.

Exotic Plants and Gardens

Nothing brings life into a home like more life. Plants are a great way to add some character to the lawn, porch, or any room. They’re easy to care for and can even add an exotic touch to your favorite spots.

But why not go a step further? Consider plants of the unique variety. Grow some cactus, or how about a family of carnivorous plants? There’s plenty of options when it comes to the plant kingdom. It’s also an alternative if you don’t have the room for a pet (or don’t’ want one).

If you happen to have some lawn space, go the extra mile and try a garden. There’s nothing quite like growing your own food, and it can bring a lot of beauty to a home.

Personal Office

With a new home, you might find yourself dealing with a lot of extra space. Well, why not put the additional room to good use? Some like to turn spaces into an office or a workstation. Why not a paint room? Those plastic miniatures won’t build themselves.

Heck, if you’ve got the financial wherewithal, get really creative. Turn your basement into an arcade machine, or set up a private theater. Or maybe dedicate the space to saltwater aquariums. The point is, you have a unique opportunity to really make a room yours.

Lights and More Lights

Want to give your place a cozy touch? Some like to invest in holiday lights to drape around their walls. This display of varying colors can add beautiful hues and vitality to your living space. It allows one to feel safer in their own living space, because it’s wholly their idea.

Once you move, you’ve got an opportunity to start fresh. Try something different for yourself. Break the mold, invest in an idea, and see what you come up with. There’s no reason you have to live in another “dull” apartment or house.
