Sometimes we need a little musical motivation to get us through the hard times. Packing can be a drag on your mental state, but there is a scientifically-verified way to deal with those emotions in a healthy way—listen to some tunes directly applicable to your situation! Sarcasm aside, you may be better off throwing on Guardians of the Galaxy’s “Awesome Mix” to give your mood a little boost (or, if you’re feeling epic, the often non-lyrical “Lord of the Rings” Soundtrack). But if you are the type of person that enjoys a musical backing to your activities in a way that rivals direct-to-television movies in overall cheesiness, you have come to the right virtual place!

This one may attract fans of old rock and of the show Supernatural. Once again, an upbeat piece that is geared toward some of you who are just fed up with your current place. Let’s hit the road, you rebel. We’ve got amplifiers to melt.
- Pack It Up – Pretenders
Need the motivation to leave this dump behind? Maybe you enjoyed your time in the place, but tough love won’t hurt the house. Just think about how the cabinets close awkwardly in one half of the kitchen and we’re on the same page essentially.

You shouldn’t argue with a crazy mind, so be sure to add this song to your playlist. You could pay Uncle Sam with the overtime, or you can take it and use it once you are loooong gone.
- I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) – The Proclaimers
The enchanting rhythm is definitely going to get you in the packing mood. Not only that, but the whole thing is so catchy you can’t help but sing along. Fair warning: don’t listen to this unless you want it stuck in your head for the next decade.
- We’ve Got to Get Out of This Place – The Animals
You must have a sweet spot for some lo-fi oldies. If you soul longs for some pop from the hippie generation, we have you covered here. You’ll be free after the move; just let this song liberate you in the meantime.

The above list not edgy enough for your taste? Well, it wasn’t meant to be, though we still have something for you! This place doesn’t have anything left for you… time to rev up your bike and cruise into that rocking sunset.

As a South Carolinian, it seems you are required to own at least one James Taylor album. Whether you are moving to another state, or just across the street, it doesn’t hurt to be reminded of home every once in a while.
